Adventist University of Africa is looking for a suitable candidate for the position of a professor in leadership at the School of Postgraduate Studies, Department of Social Sciences.

About AUA

Adventist University of Africa (AUA) is a Chartered University of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church based in Nairobi, Kenya. It was established by the General Conference of SDA to provide postgraduate education in Theology, Business, Public Health, Applied Computer Science and other fields. The University seeks to deliver outstanding postgraduate education from a Biblical foundation to prepare competent leaders to serve the Church and society in a Christ-like manner.

Qualifications and Skills Required

The candidate must hold a PhD in Leadership and have a minimum academic rank of an Associate Professor. He/she must have a proven track record in research, publications and be able to work with students and faculty from diverse cultures within an international setting. Active participation in international research networks will be an added advantage.

Required Work Experience

The applicant should have at least five (5) years of teaching experience at postgraduate level in relevant areas and must have published at least ten articles in refereed journals and successfully supervised at least ten (10) postgraduate students. Publications of university level textbooks and book chapters will be an added advantage.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

As a postgraduate level Professor, the candidate will be expected to:

  1. Teach courses in the area of Leadership as per the teaching load policy.
  2. Supervise students’ research activities at Masters’ and PhD level.
  3. Undertake quality individual and collaborative research projects leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  4. Develop research proposals for external funding.
  5. Carry out administrative tasks related to teaching and departmental activities.
  6. Contribute to the growth of professionals in his/her field of expertise.
  7. Participate in students mentoring activities.
  8. Participate and contribute to the spiritual life of the campus as per the spiritual master plan.
