Requirements

General Admission Requirements

Applicants are advised to refer to programme specific admission requirements apart from the following general admission requirements.

Masters
PhD
  • Applicants seeking admission into any of the AUA Master’s degree programs must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale or an equivalent grade average of 60%.
  • Except for Master of Arts in Biblical & Theological Studies (MABTS) applicants with a CGPA of 2.50 to 2.99 or an equivalent a grade average of 55% to 59% may be admitted on probationary status.
  • MABTS applicants must have a CGPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale or its equivalent grade of 60% and do not have the provision to be admitted on probation.

Doctor of Ministry:

    • Those seeking admission into the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program must have a master’s degree in Ministry with a minimum CGPA of 3.33 on a 4-point scale or its equivalent grade of 60%.
    • Applicants with a CGPA of 3.0 and 3.32 may be admitted on probationary. After completing one session the student must obtain a GPA of 3.33 to gain regular admission status.

PhD in Leadership:

    • Those seeking admission into the PhD in Leadership program must have a master’s degree in any field with a minimum CGPA of 3.33 on a 4-point scale or its equivalent. Those with a CGPA of 3.00-3.32 may be admitted on probationary status for only one semester.
    • The thesis or equivalent is required to enrol in the PhD in Leadership Programme.

PhD in Biblical and Theological Studies:

    • Those seeking admission into the PhD in Biblical and Theological Studies program must have a master’s degree in Theology/Religion with a minimum CGPA of 3.33 on a 4-point scale or equivalent.
    • Applicants with a CGPA of 3.0 and 3.32 may be admitted on probationary status for only one semester. After completing one session, the student must obtain a GPA of 3.33 to gain regular admission status or be discontinued from the program due to academic deficiency.
    • The thesis or equivalent is required to enrol in the PhD in Biblical and Theological Studies Programme.

English Proficiency

As AUA uses the English language as the medium of instruction, students must have the ability to study (read, write and speak) in English. In order to qualify for admission to AUA, students are required to demonstrate proficiency in English in one of the following ways:

    • Have a bachelor’s degree from a college/university in an English-speaking country where English was the medium of instruction.
    • Achieve a passing score on a recognized English language test (TOEFL, IELTS, Michigan) see table below. Test scores are valid for 3 years.
